What is the IIS?

The Sleep Research Institute (IIS), under the management of Dr. García-Borreguero, is a reference center in the field of sleep disorders in Europe.
With more than 20 years experience in the field of sleep medicine the Sleep Research Institute is on of the leading cutting-edge centers in Europe and the United States, and publishes extensive number of international scientific publications, and an average of 1,200 new patients come for consultation each year, Dr. García-Borreguero coordinates a multidisciplinary team of specialists in Neurology, Neurophysiology, Pulmonology, Psychiatry, ORL, Orthodontics, and Cognitive-Behavioral Psychology to serve sleep medicine.
The team was most recently associated with the Jiménez Díaz Foundation in Madrid, where between 1995 and 2005, the Sleep Unit was created and developed with respect to both its patient care and research, becoming the main integrated diagnostic and treatment center for sleep in Spain in its time.
At the Sleep Research Institute, patients with the most diverse sleep pathologies are studied and treated, with awareness of the importance of sleep in both physical health and dealing with family, work, and social life. In this way, the center is equipped with all of the personal resources and instruments for the evaluation and proper management of these pathologies.
In addition to its patient care, the Sleep Research Institute undertakes the important task of conducting research, which results in more effective methods of treatment. The results of this labor are the studies which are published in leading national and international peer-reviewed scientific journals for sleep specialists. This makes the Sleep Research Institute an inevitable reference as a leading center in the treatment of sleep disorders. The Sleep Research Institute has been accredited by the Spanish Accreditation Committee of Sleep Medicine with the category of Multidisciplinary Center in Sleep Medicine and is endorsed by five medical societies (Spanish Sleep Society -SES-, Spanish Neurology Society –SEN-, Spanish Pulmonology Society –SEPAR-, Spanish Pediatric Association –AEP-, Spanish Society of Otolaryngology -SEORL-, and the Spanish Psychiatry Association). Additionally, Dr. García-Borreguero is accredited as a specialist in sleep medicine by the European Sleep Research Society and the American Board of Sleep Medicine. The IIS is authorized by Madrid Community Department of Health and Consumption, with the registration number CS7498.
